Our cottage has approximately 160 years of history and its origins are closely linked to the construction of the road along the Jizera River, which between 1866 and 1872 connected Poniklá with Nový Svět near Harrachov. An important role was also played by the branch road from Jablonec nad Jizerou to nearby Sklenařice, during whose construction part of the subsoil on which the cottage stands today was created.

At that time, waterways naturally formed the boundaries between villages. The area of present-day Blansko, where the cottage is located, then belonged to Sklenařice, even though it lies on the right bank of the Jizera and was separated from its original village by a wooded hill. Our cottage still stands here today, at the intersection of history and nature.

According to ancestral stories, the building is partly founded on road fill and partly on solid rock. From the very beginning it thus connects human work with the natural force of the landscape that surrounds it.

A significant milestone was the year 1930, when great-grandfather and his sons extended the cottage with a two-storey barn. It was sensitively connected to the original building – the part that today forms the upper floor room was once the exterior wall of the cottage.

However, time also took its toll on this part of the farmstead. At the end of the 20th century the barn was in poor condition, so it had to be partially demolished and rebuilt. During the reconstruction we tried to preserve as much of the original character as possible, including old beams and wood, which today create the unique atmosphere of the interior.

In the cottage and the barn you will find a number of original elements – antique furniture, tools, skis, sleds and small items of our ancestors' everyday life. Some of them also come from another family cottage that no longer exists today. Together, everything creates an authentic environment where history naturally blends with contemporary comfort, offering visitors a unique experience.
